In addition to his role as Managing Principal of Yates Law Firm, LLC, Mr. Mersfelder's practice focuses on a variety of complex litigation matters, including commercial insurance coverage (both plaintiff and defense), subrogation, and construction defects. Mr. Mersfelder has served clients in numerous matters throughout the country. In addition to the bar admissions below, he has been specially admitted for cases in Texas, Kansas, Arizona, Utah, Illinois, California, and other jurisdictions. Mr. Mersfelder has represented clients throughout the litigation process, including pre-litigation counseling, preparation of pleadings, written discovery and depositions, pretrial and dispositive motions, mediation/settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. He has also been responsible for the representation of clients on appeal, where he has prepared briefs and orally argued cases in both state and federal court. Mr. Mersfelder has successfully defended clients against multi-million dollar actions, with results including complete dismissal or zero awards in favor of the Firm’s clients. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Mersfelder served for two years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Henry E. Nieto on the Colorado Court of Appeals, where Mr. Mersfelder was responsible for reviewing trial court records, researching legal authority, and preparing draft memoranda for cases involving nearly every type of subject matter. His extensive experience working closely with judges provides Mr. Mersfelder with unparalleled perspective concerning the judicial process at both the trial and appellate court levels.
